Terms of Use for Birthday Butler
Last updated: October 25, 2026
In short: Birthday Butler is free. There is no account, no subscription, no advertising and no in-app purchase. You use it under Apple’s standard license for App Store apps, and the points below explain the rest in plain language.
1. Who provides the app
Birthday Butler is developed and published by Ralph von der Heyden, an independent developer in Germany.
2. License
You get Birthday Butler from the App Store. Your right to use it is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to the Standard EULA; they do not replace it.
3. Price
The app is free of charge. Every feature, including all widgets and the Apple Watch app, is included. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription and no advertising.
4. Your contacts
- Birthday Butler reads the birthdays, dates and contact details saved in Contacts on your device, and only after you allow it to.
- When you add a birthday in the app, it is saved to that contact, just like an edit in the Contacts app. If your contacts sync through iCloud or another account, the change syncs too.
- Please keep your own backup of your contacts, for example through iCloud. The app does not keep a separate copy.
- How the app handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Reminders
Birthday Butler helps you remember birthdays and other dates, but it cannot guarantee that every reminder arrives. Notifications depend on your device’s settings, Focus modes and permissions, and on the dates saved in your contacts being correct.
6. Updates and availability
The app is provided as it is at any given time. It may be changed, updated or discontinued. There is no claim to a particular feature or to the app remaining available in the App Store.
7. Liability
Because the app is provided free of charge, the developer is liable only for intent and gross negligence. This does not limit liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, in particular for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz).
8. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you use the app as a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
10. Contact
If you have questions about these terms or about Birthday Butler, please get in touch through the Birthday Butler page on the App Store.
