Frequently Asked Questions
How does BirthdayButler access my contacts?
BirthdayButler requests permission to read your device's address book to find birthday and anniversary information. All data processing happens locally on your device - no contact information is ever sent to external servers.
Why don't I see all my contacts' birthdays?
BirthdayButler only shows contacts that have birthday or anniversary dates saved in their contact information. To add a birthday, edit the contact in your device's Contacts app and add the birthday date.
How do the quick actions work?
The quick action buttons (call, text, email) use your device's built-in apps. When you tap a button, BirthdayButler opens the appropriate app with the contact's information pre-filled. No data is transmitted through BirthdayButler.
Is my contact data secure?
Yes, absolutely! BirthdayButler processes all contact information locally on your device. We never collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information or contact data to external servers. Your privacy is our top priority.
Which devices are supported?
BirthdayButler is designed for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The app synchronizes across all your devices through iCloud (if enabled) while keeping all data processing local to your devices.
Can I add custom reminders or notifications?
BirthdayButler focuses on providing a clear timeline view of upcoming birthdays. For custom notifications, you can use your device's built-in Calendar app to set birthday reminders.
How do I delete or modify contact information?
Since BirthdayButler reads from your device's address book, any changes need to be made in your device's built-in Contacts app. Changes will automatically appear in BirthdayButler the next time you open the app.
The app isn't showing recent contact changes. What should I do?
Try closing and reopening BirthdayButler to refresh the contact data. If the issue persists, check that BirthdayButler has permission to access your contacts in your device's Privacy Settings.
Troubleshooting
App won't open or crashes
Try restarting your device. If the problem continues, delete and reinstall BirthdayButler from the App Store. Since all data is processed locally from your contacts, you won't lose any information.
Contact permissions
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts and make sure BirthdayButler is enabled. Without this permission, the app cannot display birthday information.
